Stanford FLAN

What is FLAN?

In 2018, a group of FLI alums came together to reflect on how FLI-ness shows up in the alumni world and in the Stanford Alumni Association (SAA). In 2019, realizing the value of community in navigating alumni challenges, a founding team of FLI alums officially established the First-Generation and/or Low-Income Alumni Network (FLAN).

What do we do?

Connect FLI alumni with each other and with current FLI students to foster mentorship and support

Provide career guidance, networking opportunities, and job resources tailored to FLI alumn

Promote initiatives that support FLI students and alumni within the broader Stanford community

Encourage alumni to contribute time, knowledge, and resources to uplift the next generation of FLI students

Our Vision

Empower a strong community of first-generation and/or low-income alumni in contributing to our advancement, maintaining a respected voice on Stanford’s campus, and leveraging our experiences to enable us to thrive in any environment and leave a legacy of which we can be proud.

Our Mission

We support and celebrate the Stanford first-generation and/or low-income (FLI) community by cultivating relationships within the greater Stanford community, inspiring volunteerism, advocating for representation of the FLI identity, and providing educational and enriching activities that connect and stimulate the Stanford FLI alumni base.
